LOAVES AND FISHES IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
Loaves & Fishes was organized to help feed the hungry of the Clarksville, TN community. The outreach began in 1983 when several ladies from the Trinity Episcopal Church served soup on Wednesdays. Realizing the need for a daily lunch, these ladies, along with the cooperation of First Presbyterian, Immaculate Conception Catholic and Madison Street United Methodist Churches, organized “Loaves and Fishes.”
THE SOUP KITCHEN HAS GROWN INTO AN ECUMENICAL, COMMUNITY-WIDE PROJECT.
The kitchen has been housed at the First Presbyterian Church Activities and Outreach Center since January 1999. Loaves and Fishes also operates a Food Distribution Center for use by qualified agencies.
Loaves and Fishes serves between 150-200 meals daily to the hungry six days a week and distributes food to area agencies through volunteer efforts. Loaves and Fishes serves 45,000 to 50,000 meals yearly on site. Loaves and Fishes also has a Food Distribution Center that distributes thousands of lbs. of food to approximately 30 other churches and agencies helping the needy in the community.
Loaves and Fishes’ “Soup Kitchen” serves meals between 10:30AM and 12:00PM, Monday through Saturday.
Donations are taken 8am to noon Monday-Saturday at the 215 Foster St. location.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN 2018
Loaves & Fishes is relocating to better accommodate our community’s growth…and growing needs. In addition to feeding more neighbors, the proposed new and significantly larger facility will mean greater efficiencies for those who serve…and expanded services for those in need. The vision for this new facility includes a primary “all services under one roof” building. However, the vision also includes the ability to expand services in the future as needed on a 6-acre Loaves & Fishes campus.
